Trainer to You Offers the First Comprehensive Aquatic
Fitness Training Program in Southwest Riverside County
Individual / Group Classes Held in Home, Club,
Condo and HOA Pools
TEMECULA, CA, June 4, 2007 – Move over water aerobics, there’s
a new aquatic training program in town and its raising the bar on physical
fitness and sports conditioning. Trainer to You, a Temecula-based personal
training company, has launched Aquatic Private Training, a challenging,
comprehensive and personalized fitness program for individuals and small
groups. As the company’s name implies, trainers go to the clients,
and for the aquatic program to private pools, whether at a home, health
or social club, condominium or homeowners association.
Aquatic training encompasses all aspects of physical fitness: tones and
strengthens muscles, increases coordination and flexibility, enhances
cardiovascular endurance, and burns 400-500 calories an hour. Aquatic
training offers resistance – 12 times greater than air – without
straining joints as can happen with gym or athletic field workouts. As
a result, the low-impact resistance allows more exercise in less time
with less fatigue. And, furthermore, exercising in water is fun and feels
more refreshing since the body stays cool.
Trainer to You client Leandra George of Temecula agrees. “I didn't
realize training in water could feel so fabulous,” she says, adding,
“I'm using muscles I didn't know I had. Teri assessed my current
physical condition and tailored a program just for me. Working out in
water is a wonderful experience that gets results."
“Athletes also like aquatic training because it’s great for
cross-training.” notes Teri McQuaid, a certified personal trainer
who leads Trainer to You’s Aquatic Private Training program. “It
improves speed and agility and the training can be designed to be sports-specific.”
“Here in southern California, we have the benefit of doing aquatic
training all year.” she points out. “The water and air may
feel cool in winter, but when you’re working out, even in water,
you don’t notice it.”
Aquatic training is beneficial to people of all ages and abilities, from
kids to seniors. In addition to promoting physical fitness and weight
loss, it improves balance and osteoporosis, limbers arthritic joints,
and is beneficial in aiding in post-rehabilitation.
“I thought it was going to be easy,” says Bonnie Kelly of
Menifee. “No way! Teri put me through my paces. The best thing about
it is that I’m not sore afterwards and I know I’m getting
a strength, as well as a cardio workout. My blood pressure has dropped
and my cholesterol is lower, too! So I’m hooked.”
Trainer to You provides Aquatic Training clients with Aqua Belts which
keep them upright in the water so they’re able to tread, walk and
jog in the deep water, as well as work out in the shallow end. The typical
55-minute sessions consist of a warm up, moderate intensity strength and
cardio training including a core workout, and a cool down. To increase
resistance during the workout, clients are encouraged to wear t-shirts
and shorts over swimsuits.
Three years ago, McQuaid moved to this area from Ireland where she taught
aquatic fitness training. A life-long fitness enthusiast, she is an avid
swimmer and cyclist who has competed in triathlons and cycling races.
Certified through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), McQuaid also
is a certified Spinning® instructor and is CPR certified.
